TAQUILE ISLAND
¿What does it consist of?
We will walk through Taquile’s hillside roads which are smooth and also offer spectacular views of the Titicaca Lake.  We always avoid climbing the 535 steps of the main pier but it is unavoidable to descend them when leaving the Island. This excursion is recommended for those who are used to walking because in the altitude the physical effort and fatigue become more noticeable.  Taquile Island houses a Quechua population of around 2000 inhabitants who are mainly farmers, fishers and mainly expert weavers. In Taquile, you can appreciate a cultural demonstration where the high quality of the craftsmanship of its textiles is the highlight. Renowned International experts think that the textile art in Taquile is one of the most extraordinary textiles in the world. These textiles are rich in natural colors, designs and symbology of the Andean Cosmovision.
