It is a must to visit Huanchaco beach when you travel to Trujillo. Â In 2013, Huanchaco was recognized as a World Surfing Reserve by Save The Waves Coalition Organization. This northern beach is well known for its flowing waves and for having a historical tradition of coexistence with the sea, which dates back to its pre-Columbian era. It is very interesting to see how local fishers built their own reed boats or Caballitos de Totora and how they fish using them.
