CHAVIN DE HUANTAR, ARCHAEOLOGICAL MONUMENT
¿What does it consist of?
Chavín was a theocratic society that developed between 800 and 200 BC. Chavin archaeological monument was built in carved stone. It was a famous sanctuary where indigenous people from different places came to give their offerings and perform their sacrifices, it was like the Jerusalem of its time. Chavin de Huantar is an archaeological site containing following constructions: The Castle and its doorway from Falconidas, the circular Plaza Hundida, the Old Temple – the Lanzon and Tello pyramids and the rectangular square with its two left and right arms. This site is located between Mosna and Huacheqsa rivers at 3185 masl, near to the entrance of the Amazon rainforest.
