It is composed of extensive aquatic forests in which the salty waters of the ocean flow in harmony with the fresh waters of the river. The huge roots of the trees rise to the surface and weave like gigantic spiderweb. This area has an impressive biodiversity represented by more than 148 species of birds, 41 types of plants, 135 species of fishes, 34 species of crustaceans and 74 species of mollusks, among which the black shells and the red crab stand out, both are considered emblematic species of Tumbes region.
